John Walker on hand to receive the 2018 Masters Award at the Canadian Society of Cinematographers 61st annual awards gala in Toronto.

John Walker was recently awarded at the Canadian Society of Cinematographers 61st annual awards gala with the 2018 Masters Award. This award recognizes the recipient’s outstanding contribution to the art of cinematography.

The award gala, held this year in Toronto, celebrates Canadian cinematographers for their exceptional talent and contributions to Canadian cinematography. John Walker has received many awards over his career from the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, including Best Documentary Photography for Chambers Tracks & Gestures and Men of the Deeps.

Hot Docs will pay tribute to filmmaker John Walker with this year’s Focus On retrospective, an annual program showcasing the work of a significant Canadian filmmaker. Hot Docs will screen a selection of Walker’s films in the Focus On program during the 25th annual Festival, April 26 to May 6, 2018.
